ABOUT THE BURSAR

Johannesburg is the biggest city in South Africa, home to 23,7% of the South African population and covering an area of over 1600km2. Most of the Johannesburg (Jo ‘burg or Jozi) population are young (under 30 years of age) as it is the economic or commercial hub of South Africa.

The government sector i.e. the City of Johannesburg Municipality are offering 100 bursary opportunities to South African citizens, living in Johannesburg who wish to pursue full-time undergraduate studies.

ABOUT THE BURSARY

The bursary programme will cover your tuition and registration fees, textbooks and/ or study material – to a maximum of R25 000 per academic year.

The bursary programmes will be renewed annually, based on the students academic performance.
The bursary will cover the following faculties of study:

  • Actuarial Science
  • Build Environment (Architecture, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Town and Regional Planning)
  • Commerce
  • Community Services (Disaster Management, Emergency Medical Technician)
  • Engineering
  • Environmental Management
  • Finance (Accounting, Auditing, Entrepreneurial/Small Business Management, Supply Chain Management, Treasury, Economists)
  • Health (Nursing)
  • Information Technology
  • International Relations & Protocol
  • Leadership
  • Law
  • Local Government Science/ Political Science
  • Logistics
  • Monitoring and Evaluation
  • Production and Operations Management
  • Quality Assurance
  • Real Estate (Property Management, Property Valuation)
  • SAP (Systems Applications HCM, CRM, ISU, FI, SCM, Budgeting, Cost Control & Plant Maintenance)

ELIGIBILITY

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements before applying:

  • strong academic merit,
  • intention to study at a recognised South African tertiary institution,
  • acceptance to study with your tertiary institution of choice,
  • the qualification must be long-term (no less than 1 year).
