ABOUT THE BURSAR

The Transport Education and Training Authority (TETA) is responsible for the transport sectors education, training and skills development. Each year, TETA offers bursaries to students within the transport industry, which is a scarce and critical skills sector.

TETA are seeking students who excel academically, are talented and are studying full-time within the sector.

Bursaries will be awarded within the following fields of study:

  • Accounting & IT (BCOM/ National Diploma)
  • Air Traffic Support
  • Aviation (BCOM)
  • Business Management (BCOM/ National Diploma)
  • Commercial Divers
  • Commercial Pilot License
  • Cost and Management Accounting (BCOM)
  • Electrical Engineering (BSC/ National Diploma: N2- N6)
  • Electronic Engineering
  • Engineering Technicians
  • Financial Management (Diploma: N4-N6)
  • Fitter & Turner (Diploma: N2-N6)
  • Logistics Management
  • Maritime Studies (National Diploma)
  • Mechanical Engineering (BSC/ National Diploma: N2-N6)
  • Mechanical Engineering (Maritime)
  • Millwrights (National Diploma: N2-N6)
  • ND Operations Management
  • ND Safety Management/Environmental
  • Private Pilot Licence

The following expenses will be covered by the bursary award: tuition fees, prescribed books, accommodation and meals.

ELIGIBILITY

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying:

  • South African citizen,
  • Under 35 years old,
  • Studying full-time in one of the aforementioned fields of study.

*Preference will be given to previously disadvantaged individuals from urban and rural areas, as well as disabled and female students.

The following documents must accompany your application form:
Undergraduate Students:

  • ID document (certified copy),
  • Matric certificate OR complete academic record if not a first year student (certified copy),
  • Proof of tertiary registration/ acceptance,
  • Parents/ Guardians ID documents (certified copies),
  • Parents/ Guardians proof of financial need (payslips/ affidavit),
  • Full course fees (proforma quote from tertiary institution),
  • Accommodation in res/ accredited accommodation (quote).

Postgraduate Students:

  • ID document (certified copy),
  • Previous qualification (Degree/ Diploma) (certified copy),
  • Proof of tertiary enrolment (acceptance letter),
  • Parents/ Guardians ID documents (certified copies),
  • Parents/ Guardians proof of financial need (payslips/ affidavit),
  • Full course fees (proforma quote from tertiary institution),
  • Accommodation in res/ accredited accommodation (quote).
