2018/19 Postgraduate Research Bursary Programme

Food and Beverages Manufacturing Sector Education and Training Authority (FoodBev SETA) invites postgraduate students to apply for research grants.

The Food and beverage Manufacturing Sector Education and Training Authority, often referred to as the foodBev SETA, is a vehicle that facilitates skills development for the sector as promulgated in the skills Development Act of 98 as amended. The skills policy is further articulated in the Skills Development Strategy (NSDS), now in its third iteration for the period 2011/12-2017/18, referred to as ‘NSDS lll is the overarchig strategic guide for the skills development while providing diretion to sector skills planning and implementation for the SETAs. South Africa in general has suffered a shortage of sectoral research and development and innovation capacity to better inform skills planning and implementation(Department of Higher Education and Training, 2011). Outcome 4.2.4 (Relevent research and development and innovation capacity is developed and innovative research projects established) of the NSDS lll clearly defines activities that need to be executed by SETAs to achieve this NSDS lll outcome.
