With in-depth knowledge of ingredients, applications and processes, the Bunge Loders Croklaan team closely cooperates with customers to develop tailored solutions and create innovative products to meet their business goals and differentiate them in in the marketplace. Coordinate the execution of the Shea Sustainability Program BLC and the implementation of projects in both our sourcing countries and our factory in Tema.

Job Title: Sustainability Officer
Location: Tamale, Northern, Ghana
Contract: Type Permanent

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

General duties
•Support in the execution of the Shea Sustainability Program BLC
•Support the coordination and monitoring of implementation of projects in both our sourcing countries and our factory in Tema
•Build and consolidate Sustainability partnerships with BLC partners
•Stakeholder engagement both internal and external (BLC departments, suppliers, NGOs, consultants, government)
•Actively participate and represent company’s interest in industry meetings/working groups (Global Shea Alliance)
•Frequently visit project areas in the West African Region (Ghana, Burkina Faso, Benin etc.)
•Provide input for new project opportunities in line with BLC’s Sustainable Shea Program and Bunge’s overall sustainability strategy
•Preparing various periodic progress reports on implementation of Sustainable Shea Program
•Measure, verify and report impact on the ground

Other duties

  • Performs any other responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time
  • Departmental Relations
    Maintains relations with Supply Chain department
  • External relations
  • Maintain relations with NGO, Global Shea community, other relevant stakeholders
  • Responsibility for company assets
  • Has responsibility for the maintenance and effective use of office and other working tools

COMPETENCIES

  • Educational qualification
    oMinimum University degree – agriculture/environment/sustainability
  • Previous experience
    oRelevant working experience (Min. 3 years in CSR/sustainability and/or cocoa other commodity industry, NGO or UN field experience is pré)
  • Technical skills
    oAffinity with reporting and Excel (MS Office in general)
  • Personality
    oAbility to drive change on the ground and work within our Sustainable Operating Principles
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) skills, fluency in French and English
  • Character: has integrity and trustworthiness, persuasiveness, practical and realistic approach
  • Attitude: positive, improver, collaborates well with colleagues in an international environment, willing to work in the field (Sahel region)
