Aspire Art Auctions, Cape Town, are offering a 3-month paid internship for an art administrator with the possibility of a full-time contract to follow.

ASPIRE ART AUCTIONS, CAPE TOWN: ART ADMINISTRATOR POSITION AVAILABLE

This paid 3-month internship with the possibility of a full-time contract thereafter will appeal to someone interested in the art business who is prepared to start at entry level and grow along with this dynamic business.

To commence 1 July 2017

Details:

Tasks include assisting the Directors and Senior Art Specialist with:
setting up Cape Town offices and auction premises

  • researching artists and artworks
  • assisting with art valuations
  • developing client and key industry relationships
  • sourcing consignments for and generating sales through auctions
  • cataloguing and catalogue production
  • logistics and archiving
  • keeping an up to date inventory list of artworks
  • organising the movement and storage of artworks
  • developing the database
  • assisting media releases and images for dissemination to various media
  • assisting with website, online platform and social media development and maintenance
  • assisting photographers
  • general administration

 

Requirements:

  • BA Fine Art with History and Theory of Art or equivalent is preferable
  • A love of art, an interest in the art market and the ability to work well under pressure
  • Good interpersonal and excellent communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Photoshop
  • Driver’s license

Hours: Monday to Friday 8:30 to 4:30. You may be required to work overtime occasionally.
Remuneration commensurate with qualifications and experience
