Ok, so what will I do there?

  • Provide grammatically-flawless written communications support through the drafting and editing of basic communications materials which may include press releases, white papers, corporate internal communications, status reports and other materials as directed
  • Conduct thorough research
  • Provide social media assistance
  • Provide support across various projects and assist with reporting requirements
  • Attend client meetings, presentations and brainstorming sessions where appropriate
  • Event support
  • Media list and other database management
  • Administrative support as directed (answering phone calls, dealing with client queries, filing, etc.)

What are the working hours?
We’ll need you for three days/24 hours a week. Because the ideal candidate is a student, we are happy to work around your schedule (within reason).

Will I be paid or is this an indentured labour situation?
A little bit of both. You will be paid a stipend to cover transport, lunch, etc. Also, if you get through the internship without blowing up the office, you will get a sterling reference/report from us. If you’re an absolute rock star, there is a possibly we’ll extend the contract and perhaps ultimately take you on in a more permanent capacity.

Please note:

  • This is a three-month fixed-term contract with the possibility of renewal if you’re half-way decent.
  • This internship is for currently enrolled students. Please do not apply if you are looking for a full-time position.

Requirements

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, strong editing skills
  • Excellent computer skills with experience in social media and Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of social media platforms and social media marketing approaches
  • The ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Detail-oriented with strong organisational skills

Personal Skills/Attributes

  • Clear demonstration of a desire to learn and grow as a professional communicator
  • The ability to work independently and with others
  • Dependability, flexibility, and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Openness to learning and growing within the internship experience
  • Self-motivated with minimal hand-holding required
  • Not shady
