History of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) Reserve System

The Reserve Force Division was established in 2003 and the Reserve Force Strategy was developed in 2004 which emphasised the importance of having a tranformed and viable Reserve Force.

The Division is headed by a Major General with its HQ in Pretoria and 10 Provincial offices, 2 in Gauteng, North and South.

The Division has a total strenght of 31 posts on its establishment of both Regular and PSAP members. It also has Reserve Force members that are called-up when there is a requirement.

Each regionl office is headed by a Reserve Force Colonel/Captain (SAN).
