Vhembe District Municipality Accountant Expenditure

Salary scale: R388 879.74 per annum (Level 4)

Requirements:

• National Diploma/BCom in Accounting or equivalent qualification

• At least 3 years’ relevant experience

• Sound knowledge of MFMA

• Valid driver’s licence

• Report-writing skills

• Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint)

• Ability to plan, organise, lead and control.

Key performance areas:

• Prepare bank reconciliation

• Update and reconcile expenditure ledger on a monthly basis

• Check and control monthly stock take at the stores and agree to inventory

• Knowledge of National Water Act and Water Service Act

Key performance areas:

• Upload data on the Green Drop systems

• Operate laboratory equipment and perform routine chemical, physical and bacteriological tests

• Understanding of engineering concepts, systems and processes

• Understanding of engineering principles related to water services

• Computer literacy

• Valid driver’s licence

• 3-4 years’ relevant experience.

Key performance areas:

• Manage waste-water services infrastructure

• Coordinate the preventive maintenance programmes for all waste-water services infrastructure

• Direct operations and maintenance teams on the day-today running of the waste-water services infrastructure in their areas

• Plan and delegate daily tasks to waste-water team

• Coordinate ordering of maintenance spares and materials of sewerage works

• Maintain effective commitment register

• Attend to community complaints and queries

• Supervise the waste-water task team.

Chief Technician: Project Implementation

Salary scale: R388 879.74–R429 209.57 per annum (Level 4)

Requirements:

• National Diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering will be an added advantage

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in project management and contract administration

• Computer literacy and sound knowledge of construction industry and its regulations

• Driver’s licence.

Key performance areas:

• Deliver technical support and evaluate proposed projects in alignment with the respective municipal IDPs and the regional and provincial growth and development plans

• Coordinate feasibility study and technical reports for all projects

• Project manage labour-intensive project in line with the EPWP framework and the related reporting requirements

• Arrange regular project progress meetings

• Ensure compliance with all legal aspects and conditions as required by the spheres of Government

• Conduct site visits/meetings to ensure compliance with business plans conditions

• Manage cash flows and committed project expenditure
