IT Internship Opportunity at SABPP 2017

The position of the IT intern is to report to the Head: Knowledge and Innovation, who will drive the IT service delivery and strategy under knowledge and innovation.

This position will support and enable the Head of Knowledge and Innovation in driving information, technology, knowledge and innovation projects and initiatives for the SABPP.

Establish and maintain administrative and technology systems and processes that allow effective management of all correspondence, reporting requirements and documentation, updating and accurately maintaining data.

This will align to the function and deliverables of the Department including endorsements, knowledge center, publications etc.

Project and Committee Duties

• Assist in implementing IT-enabled knowledge and innovation projects and committees e.g. Research, fact sheets, articles, conferences
• Co-ordinate all activities relating to the projects and committees
• Be accessible and respond to staff/manager enquiries in a timely manner
• Projects report on deliverables
• Participate in social media and innovation business strategy, including knowledge management
• Attend meetings and minute taking
• Communicate in the form of writing, verbal communication to stakeholders.
• Creating and maintaining a digital system for data storage and tracking (linked to SABPP system). The intern will work closely with the COO to create, develop and maintain the necessary IT systems.
• Ability to draw up databases, budgets, costing and track such.

Events and communication

• Managing databases for events and groups;
• Research and compile data to be converted to information, knowledge, and intelligence
• Support innovation and knowledge management by means of communication and stakeholder engagement campaigns
• Process incoming and outgoing correspondence
• Answer, follow-up and direct enquiries, and resolving where possible.

Requirements:

  • This position requires IT, multi-tasking skills and the ability to work independently and under pressure and with professionalism, high integrity, and confidence.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills are required.
  • Attention to detail is vital.
  • Demonstrated agility to shift direction in response to changing work situations is critical.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel and social media is required.
  • The ideal candidate must have a strong foundational knowledge in HR, moving into IT and innovation thinking.
  • Ability to work with technology and knowledge management is important as the portfolio is innovation driven.

The minimum requirement is a three-year IT degree or diploma.
