Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU) Orientation 2018
The Office for International Education meets and greets all new arriving International Students. Familiarising students with their immediate cultural and academic environment is of utmost importance. For this reason Nelson Mandela University offers a comprehensive orientation programme that introduces students to Port Elizabeth and surrounds, the Campus and the Culture. Pre-registration aids students in selecting courses and collating all the required documentation prior to actual registration. Excursions focus on social and local integration as well as coming to grips with cultural diversity.
Suggested Arrival Dates for January 2018 (First semester intake):
Degree Seeking Students (New Intake)
The Orientation Ceremony starts on Tuesday, 16 January 2018. Students are advised to arrive no later than Monday, 15 January 2018. Airport Shuttles commences for student arrivals from Saturday 13 January 2018. Orientation and Pre-registration is compulsory and takes place from Tuesday, 16 January 2018 until Friday, 19 January 2018.
English Skills Students (First Semester)
Orientation takes place on Friday, 2 February 2018. Classes start on Monday, 5 February 2018. Students are required to arrive by Wednesday, 31 January 2018.
Study Abroad and Exchange Students (New Intake)
The Weekend Orientation commences on Friday, 26 January 2018. Students are advised to arrive from Wednesday, 24 January 2018 and no later than Monday, 29 January 2018. Airport Shuttles commences from Wednesday, 24 January 2018. The scheduled Academic Orientation commences on Monday 29 January 2018 with classes from Monday, 5 February 2018 onwards.
Friendly and helpful assistants will meet you at the airport. Look out for our signage and Nelson Mandela University logo. Eventualities sometimes happen…so always refer to your Airport/ Bus Arrivals Information sheet below for more information on transfer, what to do in case of delay and our 24 hour emergency telephone number +27 60 474 9500. Also remember to forward your orientation booking form to international@mandela.ac.za urgently to ensure timely transfer. Note that the transfer period is indicated on airport arrival sheet. If you arrive outside of the mentioned dates transfer will be for your own account and arrangement.
