NHLS: 2019 Learnership Programme

The National Health Laboratory Service (NHLS) is offering exciting opportunities (15 posts) to take part in a 2-year fixed term Medical Technician learnership programme commencing June 2019.

To be based in training laboratories in the various regions:

Gauteng: MTLG 0419-01
KZN: MTLK 0419-02
Limpopo / Mpumalanga: MTLL 0419-03
Free State / North West: MTLF 0419-04
Western / Northern Cape: MTLW 0419-05
Eastern Cape: MTLE 0419-06

During this period, the individuals will attain, under supervision,training in the performance of laboratory tests and related procedures according to a set curriculum.All student-employees shall be eligible for the following benefits during the period of training: Current Basic Salary, Pension, Medical Aid, General Increase, Living Allowance, 13th cheque and Special Leave. The normal transfer policy will apply to employees who relocate from their current work site.

Please note: Should the applicant be successful in completing his/her academic requirements for registration as a Medical Technician with the HPCSA, the student-employee who passes and achieves the qualification and professional HPCSA licensure to practice shall be permanently appointed in an appropriate position at the discretion of the NHLS according to operational requirements. Requirements: ■Valid Grade 12 certificate with Mathematics(minimum achievement of 50%)/Maths Literacy (minimum achievement of 70%) and Physical Science/Life Sciences (minimum achievement of 50%) • South African citizenship • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) • Computer Literacy is an advantage • Customer relations
