Postgraduate Application Process
How do I apply?
Continuation (you are currently a student at the North-West University)
Applicants who were registered at the NWU in 2016 and who would like to pursue masters and/or doctoral studies in 2017 must submit:
- Completed application form (electronic/printed); and
- Certified copy of ID document (if you are a SA citizen) or your passport (if you are an international student)
Alumni (former students)
Applicants who were registered prior to 2016 at the NWU and who would like to pursue masters and/or doctoral studies in 2017 must submit:
- Completed application form (electronic/printed);
- Certified copy of ID document (if you are a SA citizen) or your passport (if you are an international student);
- Application fee:
- R150.00 non-refundable application fee for South African citizens; or
- R550.00 non-refundable application fee for non-South African citizens
- Certified copies of all academic transcripts of all relevant qualifications obtained from other tertiary institutions.
First time/New NWU Applicants
All applicants who wish to apply for masters and/or doctoral studies at the NWU for the first time must submit:
- Completed application form (electronic/printed);
- Certified copy of ID document (if you are a SA citizen) or your passport (if you are an international student);
- Certified copies of all academic transcripts, including final results of all relevant qualifications;
- Certified copies of all certificates/diplomas/degrees;
- Application fee:
- R150.00 non-refundable application fee for South African citizens; or
- R550.00 non-refundable application fee for non-South African citizens
- If any of the applicant’s qualifications were obtained at any non-South African institution, an evaluation certificate as issued by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) must be submitted. Applicants can apply for the evaluation certificate from www.saqa.org.za
- Please note that if any of the above mentioned documents were issued in the applicant’s maiden name, the applicant must submit a certified marriage certificate.
- Additional information may be required by the relevant Faculty.
