What does a graphic designer do?

Graphic design is “art in the form of visual communication”. A graphic designer creates original, creative illustrations and designs in response to a problem or situation. Graphic design includes the aesthetic and creative aspect of all promotional and corporate visual material used in the business and advertising world. Examples include designing and illustrating logos, brochures, promotional posters, web pages, interactive CD’s, technical and editorial illustration, and menus. It also includes cover design and design layout. A graphic designer thus creates for the purpose of promotion, marketing or visual communication. The world of graphic design is one of the most stimulating and exciting fields of study a talented student can enter.
