NYDA PARTNERS WITH NSFAS TO IMPROVE ACCESS TO STUDENT FUNDING

During the past weeks, South Africa has seen student mobilisation and protests increase and intensify around issues access to free education in the form of #FeesMustFall campaign which has affected the whole nation. This campaign has highlighted the plight faced by many young people in this country when it comes to access to higher education. What these young people are saying is that more needs to be done in order to afford access to free education especially for those who cannot afford.
NYDA has partnered with NSFAS to drive recruitment of students and ensure that more young people access funding for the 2017 academic year. This partnership with NSFAS is in line with NYDA’s focus on education and skills development.
All learners/students who wish to apply for NSFAS funding for the 2017 academic year can do one of the following:
1. Apply online on the NSFAS website: http://www.nsfas.org.za/content/loans.html
2. Visit any NYDA Branch to obtain the NSFAS Application Form. Completed application forms can be returned to the NYDA and will be collected by NSFAS from there.

Applications Closing Date: The NSFAS applications for the 2017 academic year have been reopened. They will close on20 January 2017 for public university students and 14 February 2017 for TVET College students.
