OPEN CALL FOR THE JOBURG FRINGE 2017

We invite artists, artist groups, art collectives, gallerists, curators to submit a proposal for a space in which to show art: Activism, conceptual, design, functional / dysfunctional, installation, intervention, Other, performance, photography, sculpture etc

• Opening: Joburg Fringe opens its doors Wednesday 06 September 4.00 pm and will run until 10 September
• Where: Victoria Yards next door to Nando’s headquarters, Victoria Road, Lorentzville, Joburg
• Fee: R6500
• Size of space: ca. 25 square metres of floor area, includes marketing, media coverage and bright lighting! PLEASE NOTE: this year we will not be providing walls. Existing walls will go on a first-pay-first-serve basis.
• Deadline for submissions: 13 July 2017 – submission is free
• Selection confirmation via email: 20 July 2017
• How: Submissions will be handled online – our online submission form will be up and running shortly on www.joburgfringe.com
• Note: You are welcome to share costs, share a booth, find a sponsor, offer help…

Of each artist / project / group we will be requiring:

• Up to 10 images, images should be labelled in the following sequence: Artist, title, year the work was completed, medium, size (with the measurements in cm height x width (x depth)), edition. Maximum upload size: 26 MB. Resolution: Between 1200 and 2000 pixels on the longest side.
• A statement about the work / project in these images (max half an A4). Keep it simple. Don’t confuse the jury.
• Bio of 10 lines of the artist (s) / curator (s)
• Moving image works (up to ca. 5mins) will be shown on a looped projection at R400 per artist. We will communicate with video artists regarding format. This fee covers the expenses of projector rental, space and editing the work together.
• Performance artists can participate in the performance programme for a fee of R400.
