National Accredited Technical Education Diploma (Nated)

National Accredited Technical Education Diploma (NATED) programmes are delivered under the auspices of the Department of Higher Education and Training. The programmes consist of 18 months theoretical studies at colleges and 18 months relevant practical application in work places. Engineering studies range from N1-N6 while Business and Utility Studies range from N4-N6.

The ultimate goal of the Nated courses is to award the student studying the course an N6 Diploma. 

Duration: 1 Year for N1 – N3 Engineering Studies

1 Year for N4 – N6 Engineering Studies

3 Years (18 months theoretical studies + 18 months workplace application) for

N4 – N6 Business and Utility Studies

Qualification: N6 Diploma

Admission Requirements: Grade 9 for N1 admission  , Grade 12 for N4 admission

National Certificate Vocational

The Department of Education introduced the National Certificate Vocational (NCV) at Public Further Education and Training (FET) Colleges in 2007. The NCV offers programmes of study in a variety of vocational fields. The programmes are intended to directly respond to the priority skills demands of the South African Economy.

The National Certificate Vocational is offered at Levels 2, 3 and 4 of the National Qualifications Framework (NQF). The qualification is designed to provide both theory and practical experience in a particular vocational field. The practical component of the study may be offered in the workplace environment. Students have an opportunity to experience work situations during the period of study.

National Skills Fund

Training and Developement at PE College through National Skills Fund

The National Skills Fund is a fund located within the Department of labour.  The fund was established in terms of the Skills Development Act, 1998.  These funds are used  to fund:

  • Projects identified in the National Skills Development Strategy as national priorities.

Project Focus

The main focus is to train previously disadvantaged and the unemployed in critical skills as determined by the NSDS III, HRDS, NGP, Provincial and Municipal IDP to target unemployment and eradicate poverty.

New Venture Creation (SERVICES SETA)

The New Venture Creation Programme is designed to equip nascent entrepreneurs with the skills necessary to start a scalable business. Support and mentorship forms a big part with seda ECDC support in this programme.

Hairdressing (SERVICES SETA)

This very popular course has necessitated the building of new salons.Hairdressing courses teach students skills in cutting, coloring and styling hair. Students learn about cutting-edge techniques as well as the latest hair styles and trends.
