What is Sandstone?
Sandstone is a clastic sedimentary rock composed mainly of sand-sized silicate grains. Sandstones comprise about 20–25% of all sedimentary rocks.
Most sandstone is composed of quartz or feldspar because they are the most resistant minerals to weathering processes at the Earth’s surface.

What is sandstone used for?
Sandstone represents ancient stream, deltaic, or beach deposits. Uses for sandstone include liners for steel furnaces;
as building stone; as an abrasive; for golf-course trap sand; and in making glass, computer chips, fiberglass, TV screens, and paint.
Is sandstone a strong stone?
No doubt, sandstone is durable and is as hard as a rock (because it is!).
Although it can’t compete with the durability and hardness level of granite or black basalt, it’s still strong enough to last for many decades with proper care and maintenance.
Will sandstone break easily?
You can break sandstone, which makes it easy to install.
However, once laid, sandstone’s high durability over the years makes it a better choice for commercial hard landscaping projects than a man-made substance like concrete.
