GEMCO is one of the world’s largest manganese mining and concentrating operations located on Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, accounting for over 20% of the worlds’ high-grade manganese ore production. GEMCO controls and operates all aspects of mining, processing, logistics and shipping on Groote Eylandt.

The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Mobile Maintenance Supervisor who has solid experience of leading a team of Heavy Duty Fitters, Auto Electricians and Boilermakers.

Reporting to the Mobile Maintenance Superintendent, this role plays an integral part in leading a team safely and efficiently to achieve mining production targets as part of the GEMCO business plan.

What the Role Entails

• Supervise, lead and develop the Mobile Maintenance Team
• Achieve, maintain and improve equipment fleet availability targets
• Plan, manage and coordinate maintenance repair activities to meet business KPI targets
• Develop and improve the Tyre Management Program
• Ensure the crew upholds the highest health, safety and environment standards
• Ability to train and mentor team members

In addition, you will need:

• Experience in a Mobile Maintenance Supervisor position, ideally within Open-cut mining
• Trade qualified in automotive diesel fitting
• Completed Supervisor Development Program or similar supervisor training
• Demonstrated leadership and communication skills
• Strong commitment to maintaining high safety standards and meeting agreed targets
• Effective communication, time management and prioritisation skills

Location

Located on Groote Eylandt, GEMCO is a one hour flight from Darwin and a one hour 20 minute flight from Cairns. GEMCO’s facilities include an indoor gym, beachside workout area, swimming pool, golf course, tennis and squash courts, sports oval, scenic walking track and recreation club. All rooms in the camp have their own ensuite bathroom, television, refrigerator and air-conditioning. Camp guests are welcome to participate in a range of community and social activities.
