Student Sponsorship Programme for High School 2017 / 2018

Student Sponsorship Programme is calling upon all young leaders of tomorrow to apply for the SSP (Student Sponsorship Programme) high school scholarship.

5-year high school scholarships will be awarded to successful candidates from disadvantaged backgrounds/low income families to attend the country’s top schools.

Student Sponsorship Programme is offering academically excellent Grade 6 pupils the opportunity of a life time. Successful candidates will be awarded the prestigious 5 year high school scholarships to graduate from one of South Africa’s best schools in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Grahamstown, East London, Somerset, KwaZulu Natal Midlands and Somerset West areas. The SSP high school scholarship is infused with extra-curricular leadership and personal development activities usually taking place on Saturdays throughout the scholar’s high school career. It is a rigorous programme aimed at developing future leaders in all aspects of South African society.

SSP’s vision aligns itself with the South African Constitution of a non-racist, non-sexist, democratic, united and prosperous South Africa by developing leaders who will live these values wherever they find themselves. Over 850 scholars have directly benefited from this programme since its inception in year 2000 with over 550 Alumni. SSP is now calling for applications from pupils who meet the criteria to submit their applications for an opportunity to change the landscapes of their world through quality education.

The 5-year scholarship includes:

  • Tuition
  • School uniforms
  • Sports gear
  • Books
  • Educational excursions

In order to be considered, the applicants must adhere to the criteria below

  • Currently in Grade 6 (2017)
  • 12 years or younger in 2017
  • Attain 70% and above in their latest academic report
  • Attain 70% and above for Mathematics, Natural Science and English
  • Must demonstrate leadership potential
  • Be community service orientated.
  • Must participate in extracurricular activities
  • Demonstrate financial need: household gross income combined not exceeding R20 000.00 per month

SSP scholars have shown that they do not only excel academically but they become leaders in their schools, in their communities and at tertiary level. So too they shine on stage and on the sports field. SSP believes that providing access to quality education for one child will change the lives of the community, the country and the world.
