UFS Trauma, Forgiveness and Reconciliation Studies

The aim of the research focus on trauma, forgiveness, and reconciliation is to explore new terrain of investigation in the field of trauma and its repair. The project is conceptualised as a cross-disciplinary research platform that will bring together an international group of leading scholars and practitioners in the field of trauma and forgiveness, and reconciliation strategies aimed at trauma’s repair in the lives of individuals and societies affected by historical trauma. The project will also attract post-graduate students in order to cultivate a new generation of young researchers in these areas. Research initiatives will be established in partnerships with scholars in countries with similar historical traumas as South Africa, such as Rwanda, Germany, Australia, and the United States.
