UNIZULU Students Receive Prestige Research Bursaries

THE University of Zululand’s (UNIZULU) Research and Innovation Office has recently organized a Prestige Bursary Holders ceremony KwaDlangezwa campus.

The Prestige bursary is one of the highly prized bursaries at UNIZULU, both from the point of view of benefits and the wide and quick opportunities for postgraduate studies.

Out of 24 students who received this bursary, 15 of them are going to do research at an honours level and nine at the masters’ level.

UNIZULU Vice-Chancellor, Professor Fikile NM Mazibuko congratulated bursary recipients. “Words really fail to express my joy at the news of your selection. It is an added pleasure for us all that your future research related activities will continue to improve the good name of UNIZULU,” she said.

Students were also reminded by Professor Mazibuko that research is also expressed as concern even in the National Development Plan of South Africa. She requested students to familiarize themselves with the plan.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Research and Innovation, Professor Rob Midgley congratulated the students and further urged them not to despair so that in the end they accomplish their research mission no matter how long it takes them to do so.  “Development and research is not just an event, it takes time to arrive to the point where you want to get to,” said Professor Midgley.
