In finance, valuation is the process of determining the present value of an asset. In a business context, it is often the hypothetical price that a third party would pay for a given asset. Valuations can be done on assets or on liabilities.

The cost of a property valuation is dependent on the value of the property and works on a sliding scale. Sometimes the fee can be based on an hourly rate, depending on the nature of the valuation.

The fees are typically shouldered by the property buyer: 0.25% of the first RM100,000 of the property’s market value. 0.20% of the next RM2 million of the property’s market value. 0.167% of the next RM7 million.
