Vhembe TVET College Campuses

Today the college has six campuses; Makwarela Campus, Tshisimani Campus, Mashamba Campus, Mavhoi Campus, Thengwe Campus , Shingwedzi Campus and Makhado Satellite Campus and is known as Vhembe TVET College.

Makwarela Campus

The campus is the first technical college in the region and was established in 1963. It has gone through different changes in addressing the skills of South Africans since then.
Some of this evolutions were the names given to the institution namely Vocational College of Venda, Finyazwanda, and Technical College of Venda.
It later assisted in the initiation of Mavhoi Technical College in 1983 and offered some of the staff members the opportunity to show case at the newly established college.

Mashamba Campus

The campus was established in the early 2000 to focus on the agricultural needs in the region.

It started to fully functional after the merging of the technical colleges and it was gazetted as South Campus, which was later in 2009 be gazetted as Mashamba campus.

The first Campus Manager was Mr. Beeneck from 2005 to 2007, Mr Mentsa was caretaker for about six month before the current Campus Manger (Mr. Maumela NW) took the office.

The campus is currently offering the following

  1. NATED programmes N4 – N6 (Business Studies) – 18 Months

Mavhoi Campus

The campus was formed to easy the load which was too much for Finyazwanda Technical College, in 1983.

It was known as Mavhoi Technical College since then until the merging of technical colleges.

The campus was initially gazetted as Central Campus and in 2009 was gazetted Makwarela Campus.

The campus is currently offering the following

      2. Information Technology and Computer Science
      3. Electrical Infrastructure Construction

  1. NATED programmes N1 – N6 (Engineering Studies) – 24 Months

Shingwedzi Campus

The campus one the latest to be established. It is located at Malamulele area, where Shingwedzi College of Education was.

It was only launched by Dr. B. Nzimande on the 9th of December 2016.

The campus was gazetted as Shingwedzi Campus.

The campus will open in January 2017 offering the following

  2. NATED programmes N4 – N6 (Business Studies) – 18 Months
    1. Financial Management
    2. Business Management
    3. Management Assistance
  1. NATED programmes N1 – N6 (Engineering Studies) – 24 Months
    1. Civil Engineering – Brick Laying
    2. Mechanical Engineering – Motor Mechanics

Thengwe Campus

The satellite campus was established in 2011 and was earmarked for Learnership and Short skills programmes. In 2016 it was then registered as the fully flashed campus.

The campus is situated at Thengwe area near Tshilamba town formerly known as Thengwe High school and now Thengwe old school buildings.

Tshisimani Campus

The campus is the first education college in the region. The campus encompasses two former college of educations namely Tshisimani and Ramaano.

The campus was opened in 2011 as a results of overflow of Makwarela campus. This campus has grown fast and it is the second largest campus in the college in terms of the students registration.

The first Campus Manager was Mrs Ruth Ndou who led the campus from 2011 until 2015. The campus is currently under the leadership of Mr NZ Malitsha.
