JOURNALISM

ND: (National Diploma) 
Students are educated to be sensitive to diversity and transformation. They are expected to undertake research-driven journalism, including the use of technology, in a creative and responsible manner to serve the profession and society. As an important resource for local and national media organisations, students are required to complete a period of staff-supervised experiential learning.

Students are taught how to fine-tune their writing skills. They are also given an introduction in media management, including the inner workings of newspapers and broadcast houses, and taught the basics of research methodology. Most of the classes are scheduled to take place after hours and over weekends.

 

Career Opportunities
Graduates find employment in a variety of media and related industries. A BTech in journalism provides a good stepping stone to a career in media management.
