Level 2 to 4
This qualification enables learners to develop towards and to qualify as
professional hairdressers.
At Level 4 the qualification focuses on advanced hairdressing techniques
as well as management skills to assist the hairdresser to start up and
manage their own business.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
A minimum requirement is Grade 9. Preference will be given to learners with a Grade12.
DURATION:
3 years full-time or part-time.
Please note that 3900 notional hours must be accumulated by the learners over the three (3)
year learnership.

Pre-Vocational Learning Programme (PLP) Certificate
• This programme is an entry level
foundational learning programme
for articulation into learning
programmes for students who do
not meet the entry requirements.
• The programme prepares a
student for enrolment in the
relevant NC(V) and Report 191

or less at NQF level 2.

the grades leading to that level must also be attained with a 50%

EXAMINATIONS
• The letter of acceptance must be submitted when entering for
the qualifying subjects at Westcol Campus examination Office
and the appropriate examination fees must be paid.
• The examinations are held in June and November and the
closing dates for entry are set by the Department of Education.
