Construction Management and Quantity Surveying Handbook

The construction industry is a global one and offers the opportunity to work anywhere in the world. In the next two decades, construction in South Africa is expected to be in full swing to provide houses and infrastructure for its growing population. In South Africa, the ratio of managers to workers is one of the highest in the world. This means that future prospects are excellent despite the reality of the cyclical and fluctuating nature of personnel hire in the construction industry.

In addition to the National Diploma courses, we provide part-time B Tech courses in both Construction Management and Quantity Surveying as well as the M Tech in Construction Management and Quantity Surveying. There is also an active Doctoral programme. Members of the Department undertake research into many aspects of construction. The B Tech and M Tech programmes in the Department aims to provide the leaders and senior managers in the construction industry and related professions. The programme aims to produce graduates with the management skills and technical knowledge required for a diverse and complex industry. It is also a route to obtaining professional registration.
