Job description

To perform the daily point of sale reconciliations, ensuring that all sales rung up balance to funds received.

This position provides administrative support to the head of accounts through the provision of an efficient and effective support service. The accounting clerk will be expected to complete their duties as part of an efficient team, and they will be authorised to carry out various operational activities. Reporting directly to the head of accounts.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Daily point of sale reconciliations for eight trading tills
  • Daily processing of POS refunds and COD/account credits
  • Daily COD receipting
  • Provide daily assistance and support to retail staff
  • Research and track any transactions as requested
  • Deal with general account queries and assist wherever possible
  • Day end till drawer swops (on roster basis)
  • Morning float counts and float top up requests (on roster basis)
  • Daily credit card batch report reconciliations, ensuring all payments/refunds issued on credit or debit card are accounted for
  • Monthly batch reconciliations ensuring all batches banked into the bank account
  • Filing of all daily point of sale reconciliations with all supporting documentation
  • Ensuring that all point of sale packs are filed in easily accessible manner, and organised fashion in order to easily trace any transaction called for
  • Compiling of daily/monthly reports for management
  • Authorise various customer transactions, such as voids, refunds and overrides
  • Daily invoicing/intercompany stock transfer documents
  • General administrative tasks within the accounts department

Requirements

  • Higher certificate or diploma in financial studies/business administration
  • Two to three years of experience in clerical accounting
  • Solid understanding of accounting procedures
  • Precise, structured and detailed approach to work
  • Good general computer literacy with vast knowledge of Excel
