The PwC Professional leadership framework

The PwC Professional defines the capabilities we look for in order to meet the expectations of our clients, colleagues and communities. Application Tips and Tricks

We at PwC have developed this list of tips and tricks to help you through the application process so that you step into your interview confidently!

Landing your dream job can be tricky and we know that applying to a large professional services firm can be intimidating. That’s why we’ve developed this list of tips and tricks to help you through the application process so that you step into your interview confidently!

Compiling your application

Your CV or online profile is often the first interaction that our recruitment team will have with you. This is your chance to shine, so use the opportunity to show your strengths and why you would be an asset to PwC.

  • Get the basics right: Make sure that your online profile has all the critical details, including your qualifications, work history, experience and contact details. Finally do a spell check!
  • Keep it short: Our recruitment team often has hundreds of applications to work through. Keep your application under two pages and ensure that it’s punchy.
  • Link your skills to your experience: Help us to see how your experience links to specific skills. This is really important for those with little work experience. For instance, show us how your experience as a customer consultant taught you how to deal with difficult clients.
  • Always include references: References should be from previous employers who can vouch for your skills and expertise.
  • Keep it fresh: Update your profile with the latest projects you’ve worked on. This helps us see that you’re constantly working at improving your skills.

Nailing the interview

  • Be on time: First impressions count, so arrive early for your interview. This gives you time to sign in and find the right venue well before the start of the interview.
  • Dress professionally: As a professional services organisation that is client-facing, first impressions count. We’ll be required to dress smartly, so do the same for the interview.
  • Prepare for the interview: Preparing for the interview is perhaps the most important thing you can do. Research your role and the firm thoroughly. Then prepare questions that you are likely to be asked and what your answers are.
  • Have some questions of your own: This is your opportunity to find out more. So prepare some question to help you find out more about your role, what you’ll be doing etc.
  • Emphasise your suitability for the role: Take the opportunity to tell us why you’re perfect for the role. What special skills, experience or expertise do you have that set you apart and make you perfect for the job?
