THE NATIONAL CERTIFICATE (VOCATIONAL) NC (V) QUALIFICATION
• A year end school report for Grade 9 or higher.
• ABET Level 4.
• An NQF Level 1 qualification related to the programme.
• Competency in the Learning Outcomes at NQF Level 2/3 to enrol NQF Level 4.

National Certificate Vocational-NC (V)
Minimum and college specific admission requirements for Level 2: • Grade 9 / higher pass/
• NQF Level 1/AET Level 4.

Pass requirements:
• In order to obtain the NC (V) qualification at a particular NQF level and to progress to the next NQF level you must pass
all 7 subjects.
• Please note that for an NC (V) student to receive the complete subject result for fundamental subjects the marks of two
components are compulsory. ICASS (Internal continuous assessment) and the examination mark.
The pass requirement for ICASS in NC (V) subjects are as follows:
• All Vocational subjects: 50%.
• Life Orientation and First Additional Language: 40%.
• Mathematics and Mathematical Literacy: 30%

Minimum admission requirements NC (OR) Grade 8/higher (As per departmental policy): N1 – Grade
9 pass with Mathematics and Physical Science or an Introductory programme as determined by the College or an equivalent
qualification. Mathematics 50% and Physical Science 50%; N2- N1 pass with at least 3 subjects to progress to the next level.

Certificate with Art instructional offering and a portfolio, or a National Certificate N3 Art, or a National Senior
Certificate: Art with a portfolio, or an equivalent qualification. English First Language 50%; N5- N4 pass with at
least 3 subjects to progress to the next level; N6- N5 pass with at least 3 subjects to progress to the next level.
Intro N4, N4 – N6 Business Studies.
Business Management.

Minimum and college specific admission requirements: Intro N4 and N4: -Grade 12 pass with English

Cosmetology/Beauty Therapy
Admission Requirements: Further Education and Training Certificate: Beauty and Nail technology.
Craft and Confectionery Baking
Admission requirements:
Level 2: Grade 12 or relevant qualification
Level 3: NQF level 2 or relevant qualification
Duration: One year per NQF level
Level 2: Basic practical and theoretical training in: fermented and non-fermented
products. (Buns, bread, Chelsea buns, muffins, scones etc.)
Level 3: Advanced practical and theoretical training in: product and baking of
confectionery products (various kind of pastries, cakes, meringues, eclairs etc.
cake icing and decoration. Working in industry one day per week).
National Certificate: Hairdressing NQF Level 2-4 (Full-time)
