Position: Sawdoctor – permanent position at our Weatherboard sawmill

Working hours are 7am – 4:30pm

Full package including bonuses, medical aid cover and pension contributions.

Position Purpose:

Responsible for the Maintenance and Repair of Wet and Dry Mill saw blades utilising a range of related machines in Sawshop
Manage the Sawshop Team.
Deliver a high quality and efficient Saw Blade service to the Wet and Dry Mills.

Key Accountabilities:

Maintainance of Circular and Band Saws.
Overseeing all functions in the Saw Shop
Ensuring that the relevant machines and equipment meet both the Manufactures requirements and CHEP’s Zero Harm Policy Standards.
Maintain the related Sawshop machinery and equipment
Ensuring that equipment sent to 3rd Party Suppliers meet the desired Quality Standards
Be fully conversant re both Manually Operated and Computer Operated saw sharping machines and equipment.
Able to identify irregularities on the Wet Mill and Dry Mill cutting machines that cause unnecessary wear to the blades
Ensuring that Wet and Dry Mill change of shift / blades is carried out as per procedure
Perform all related administrative duties (reports: maintenance, timesheets, accidents, performance, training, environment, etc.).
Identify, recommend and/or implement changes designed to improve production procedures, equipment performance, working conditions and product quality so as to maximize Sawshop efficiencies.
