Position:Manager: Collective Bargaining Support and Relationship Management

Salary:R514 020 – R705 144 per annum (plus benefits)

Minimum Requirements:

  • Relevant B degree in LLB / Labour Law / Labour Relations
  • Computer literacy
  • Driver’s license
  • 5 years’ experience in a similar environment

Core Responsibilities:

  • Manage labour relationship between the Employer and Labour to ensure fair labour practices and compliance with all relevant statutory requirements
  • Executive human resources management functions within the section to ensure fair labour practices and compliance with all relevant statutory requirements
  • Execute financial management functions to ensure that the Local Labour Forum is financially able to deliver on its mandate
  • Manage activities of fulltime Shop Stewards to ensure effective and efficient functioning of Shop Stewards within the Metro
  • Coordinate collective bargaining matters with South African Local Government Authority and South African Government Bargaining Council to ensure compliance with all relevant statutory requirements
  • Keep abreast with developments on Best Practice Model to ensure flow of labour relations information
  • Manage disputes emanating from collective bargaining to ensure efficient and effective dispute management process within Council
  • Provide labour relations advisory services to management within the Metro to ensure fair labour practices and compliance with relevant statutory requirements
  • Participate in all relevant ring fencing processes, labour relations transitional structures impacting on employment relations to ensure fair labour practices and compliance with all relevant statutory requirements
  • Serve on the Council’s Strike Management Committee to ensure appropriate resolution of conflict during industrial actions
