Internal Communications Officer Job in Cape Town, Brackenfell March 2017

Purpose:

To assist with the development, implementation and maintenance of the internal communications plan to impart information about company strategies and initiatives as well as marketing and public relations campaigns to management and employees of the company.

Job objectives:

Action internal communication plan

  • To identify new and grow existing communications channels within the company.
  • Demonstrate competence and understanding of internal communications goals.
  • Writes and edits editorial and other relevant communications materials (inclusive of a bi-weekly newsletter) for campaigns to share with an internal audience.

Compile and produce staff newspaper

  • Liaise with various divisions and head office departments for page content.
  • Plan news list of each edition in conjunction with the agency.
  • Collect news and photographs from company correspondents and executives.
  • Write copy and take photographs for corporate articles.
  • Coordinate the agency during layout, printing and distribution phases.

Assist with implementation of the communications strategy for the CEO communications programme

  • Liaise with internal stakeholders on the execution of the CEO communications programme.
  • Execute internal distribution actions as per the approved strategy and programme.

Produce switchboard on-hold messages

  • Plan message programme.
  • Liaise with internal sources for information and marketing programme.
  • Collect information and write copy.
  • Arrange and coordinate recording and distribution processes.

Relationship building

  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders across the business in order to identify news and become familiar with company projects, programmes and initiatives that should be communicated to staff.

Requirements:

Qualification

Essential:

  • Three-year degree in communications (editorial/journalism) or degree/diploma in related field.

Experience

Essential:

  • Five+ years of experience as a corporate in-house journalist.
  • Two+ years of project coordination experience.

Knowledge

Essential:

  • Traditional and editorial media

Desirable:

  • Social media
  • Printing processes
