APPOINTMENT REQUIREMENTS

Grade 1:

Matric /Senior Certificate (Grade 12)

The appointment to Grade 1 requires the appropriate qualification (Bachelor of Pharmacy

Degree/Diploma).

Registration Certificate with SAPC as a Pharmacist

Current registration as a Pharmacist with the SAPC (2017)

No Experience required

Applicants in possession of a foreign qualification must attach the evaluation certificate from the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) to their applications.

Grade 2:

Matric /Senior Certificate (Grade 12)

The appointment to Grade 2 requires the appropriate qualification (Bachelor of Pharmacy Degree/Diploma)

Registration Certificate with SAPC as a Pharmacist

Current registration as a Pharmacist with the SAPC (2017)

5 years’ experience after registration as a Pharmacist with SAPC

Proof of experience should be attached to the application. (Certificates of service or official letters of service from previous/current employers, signed and stamped by HR)

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

Ensure quality provision of pharmaceutical care by implementing and monitoring work procedures, policies and guidelines in keeping with Batho Pele, SAPC and National Drug Policies

Accept managerial responsibility and accountability for drug supply management

Ensure and assist with efficient, safe and legal dispensing of medicines including ARVs

Provide a professional advisory service, including input into a development plan for pharmacy staff and provide training/education to other health care workers

Participate in PTC meetings

Participate in research

Implement budgetary control

Supervise relevant sections of the pharmacy

Supervise staff including, Pharmacist’s Assistants, General Orderlies, etc

Ensure extensive control of pharmaceutical services in all depths of the hospital including drug supply management to associated clinics

Supervise the requisition and maintenance of stock for outpatients, inpatients and special programme services

Be willing to work long hours should the need arise

Act as a tutor to pharmacy interns and pharmacist’s assistants

Promote effective security measures within the Department
