Following a recent visit by two officials from the University of Dar es Salaam, the North-West University (NWU) is set to collaborate with this university based in Tanzania.

Dr Lulu Kaaya, director for internationalisation, and Prof John Machiwa, principal of the College of Agricultural Science and Fisheries Technology at the University of Dar es Salaam, visited the Potchefstroom and the Mafikeng campuses from 28 February to 3 March to discuss possible areas of collaboration.
Dr Miranda Mgijima, director for Internationalisation at the Mafikeng Campus, says that they are working towards signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and hope that this will be finalised by July 2017. “This MoU will target key areas of mutual benefit to advance both our academic missions.

“To internationalise a higher education institution is a process. As a start, the MoU will cover activities in the Faculty of Education and Training; the School of Agricultural Sciences and the Department of Communication in the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences at the Mafikeng Campus, as well as the School of Music at the Potchefstroom Campus,” she adds.
