Global Certification Standards Manager  ( HRL 19/S6  )

 

Sappi Global Operations requires a suitably Global Certification Standards Manager to oversee and co-ordinate the implementation of the global forestry certification programme as approved by Sappi Limited. Engage with relevant certification standards agencies to ensure that Sappi is at all times suitably engaged and appropriately registered with required parties.

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Establish and define the framework of the certification programme to ensure optimum understanding on the process of certification.
  • Manage quality by defining and implementing the required standards that have to be maintained for successful certification.
  • Develop and implement a training programme that supports the understanding of the global certification programme.
  • Ensure that all activities and requirements regarding Sappi’s certification programme are met.
  • Conduct regular audits across the various Sappi Regions to ensure compliance is maintained.
  • Meeting all deadlines to ensure timeous certification from relevant agencies.
  • Ensure extensive knowledge of Sappi processes to facilitate continuous improvement by identifying efficiency improvement opportunities.
  • Engage with certification and/or sustainability managers across Sappi regions to ensure good understanding of all the elements of the global certification programme.
  • Build excellent relationships with certification agencies and other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Serves as an internal consultant for business regarding certification standards.
  • Responds to inquiries from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure that the Sappi corporate image is upheld, risks are mitigated and that relationships continuously improve.
  • Responsible for completing and maintaining certification and registration documentation.
  • Identify and set reporting periods to promote understanding certification standards.
  • Track performance metrics of certification standards to assess effectiveness of obtaining

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE

 

•     Relevant Bachelor’s degree in an environmentally related discipline.

•     At least 5 to 8 years relevant experience.

•     Computer proficiency is required.

•     Demonstrated knowledge of certification processes and understanding of compliance & sustainability processes.

The position will be based either in Europe , North America or South Africa subject to the successful candidate location .
