Illawarra Coal is a long term and leading coking coal supplier which operates two underground metallurgical coal mines, two preparation plants and a logistics chain.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Superintendent Mine Services, the purpose of the role is to oversee the ventilation control systems at Dendrobium Mine in accordance with the mines operating system and statutory requirements. In addition to this, facilitating the planning of various mining projects throughout the life of the mine.

What the Role Entails

• Govern the standards, operating procedures and control systems that ensure critical controls exist and are effective in ventilation and designated small projects;
• Oversee the ventilation system monitoring and identify improvements to ventilation systems;
• Manage the execution of small mining projects to achieve and maintain predictable, stable and required levels of operating performance within HSEC and production requirements;
• Own, analyse and improve standards and controls required to manage HSEC and operational material risks and legal obligations;
• Oversee the execution of the plan in order to achieve the established targets on HSE, Cost, and quality compliance;
• Provide guidance and leadership expertise to other production sub functions function for ventilation practice and standards;
• Oversee input into improvements and ongoing development of ventilation standards and operating procedures, including engineering modifications;
• Provide routine coaching and mentoring on ventilation standards to mining supervisors to ensure delivery against performance expectations.

About You

The ideal candidate will have the following:

• Statutory Ventilation Officer Certificate;
• Deputy or Under Manager’s Certificate of Competence;
• A proven track record in underground coal mine ventilation management;
• Extensive experience in the use of Ventsim, Safegas and SAP.
