UJ Metropolitan Academy class of 2017 achieve 100% pass rate – again!

With an outstanding 125 distinctions, the class of 2017 of the affiliated high school to the University of Johannesburg (UJ), UJ Metropolitan Academy (UJMA), produced a 100% pass rate for its matric results.

The UJMA matric results for 2017 are as follows:

Number of matriculants: 95

Pass rate: 100%

Bachelors: 85%

Number of total distinctions: 125

7 Distinctions: 2 learners

6 Distinctions: 6 learners

5 Distinctions: 3 learners

UJ Metropolitan Academy is situated in Crosby, near Brixton in Johannesburg. The school caters mainly for selected high school learners from disadvantaged communities who demonstrate potential for success in studies at higher education institutions. Pupils are selected on the basis of their aptitude for mathematics and science.

“The continued success of the school can be attributed to the commitment and hard work of teachers who care deeply about the academic and personal well-being of the learners,” says Prof Sarah Gravett, Executive Dean of the Faculty of Education at the University of Johannesburg.  “The school principal, Ms Marietta Westerberg, retired at the end of 2017.  We pay tribute to her leadership. We look forward to 2018 being another outstanding year for learners and teachers alike, under the leadership of a new school principal.”
