2020 University of Stellenbosch Online Application Form

University of Stellenbosch Application 2020 :To apply to the University of Cape Town , you need the documents below :

1) A certified copy of the green bar coded ID

2) Proof of payment of any relevant application fees

3) Certified copy of grade 11 results and any latest grade 12 results

FYI: South Africans learners wishing to apply online will need a working email address and an ID number. Foreign learners wishing to apply will need to have their passport number.

To study at Stellenbosch University you are required to:

  • South African school system: Have obtained a National Senior Certificate (NSC) as certified by Umalusi with admission to Bachelor’s degree studies, which means that you must obtain a mark of at least 50% in each of four school subjects.
  • International school system: Final school results from International Curriculum (Cambridge International, International Baccalaureate, etc.), including School of Tomorrow.  Click here for the minimum requirements for international curriculums. (A-levels, AS-levels, IB diploma and GCSE/IGCSE/O-levels)
  • Have written the National Benchmark Tests (NBTs). Please note that when you apply for a programme in the faculty of Law and of Medicine and Health Sciences, the NBT’s need to be written before 30 June if you want to be considered for selection.
  • Also meet further requirements specific to the programme(s) of your choice as set out in the programme outlines under the various faculties

Step 1: Before you apply 

Make sure that you understand the University’s Admission Policy, and the admission and selection criteria of the different faculties before you apply. The policy, criteria and guidelines are available at Undergraduate Prospective Student website at www.maties.com, or you can contact our Client Service on +27 21 808 9111 or info@sun.ac.za. For postgraduate studies, please visit the Prospective Postgraduate Student website at www.sun.ac.za/pgstudies .

Step 2: Take note of the closing dates

Undergraduate dates for all students, including international students: 
1 April: Applications open for financial assistance at Stellenbosch University.
30 June: Applications close for all undergraduate programmes.
30 June: Residence applications close.
1 August: Applications open for NSFAS bursaries.
31 August: Applications close for Stellenbosch University financial assistance.
30 November: Applications close for NSFAS bursaries.
15 December: Applications close for Diploma in Public Accountability (Telematic Education). 

Postgraduate closing dates for all students:
Visit the Prospective Postgraduate Student website (www.sun.ac.za/pgstudies) for a list of the closing dates of all the postgraduate programmes offered for the 2020 intake year. 

Closing dates for financial assistance:
31 August: Applications close for Stellenbosch University financial assistance.

How to Apply

Stellenbosch University’s academic year follows the calendar year.

Taught postgraduate programmes usually commence in February each year with a limited number of programmes commencing in July. Where a postgraduate programme consists of coursework it is important for candidates who have been admitted to arrive in time for the commencement of the programme. Classes usually commence in late January or early February (or late July). Late arrivals cannot be accommodated.

New registrations for masters (by research) and doctoral programmes must be finalised by the end of March or in some cases by the end of July each year.

TAKE NOTE OF THE CLOSING DATES

Applications:

Applications for each new enrolment cycle open on 01 March each year. Application for admission to postgraduate degree programmes for both South African and International candidates are subject to faculty specific closing dates.

Registration Date

Financial assistance:

30 June: Applications close for National Research Foundation (NRF) funding.

31 August: Applications close for Stellenbosch University financial assistance.

No late applications will be considered.

SELECT YOUR PROGRAMME

As a postgraduate candidate, you are only able to apply for one programme. Submitting your completed application form and meeting the minimum admission requirements does not guarantee admission.

You may change your programme choice, provided that the closing dates allow for it by sending an email with your request to the Client Services Centre via info@sun.ac.za. Use your SU student number as a reference.

 APPLY ONLINE

In order to apply online, you will need a valid mail address and cell/mobile phone number. Correspondence will be sent to the email address provided and messages to the cell/mobile phone.

To complete your online application, all compulsory screens with red ‘Outstanding’ buttons, must be completed.

To finalise the application, click on the ‘Finalise’ button (which is only available once ALL the compulsory screens are completed).

PAY THE APPLICATION FEE

Application fees can be paid as part of the online application process (only South African candidates pay an application fee).

Cash payments may also be made in person at the cashiers at the Administration A building (Stellenbosch Campus).

MAKE SURE THAT YOU UPLOAD ALL THE REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

Your application will only be processed AFTER the application has been finalised AND all the correct supporting documents have been uploaded via the ‘Upload application documents‘ link BEFORE the closing date.

It remains your responsibility to make sure that the University receives all your documents in time.

The University will acknowledge receipt of your application via email.
