About

The Allan Gray Orbis Fellowship Bursary is for any students who are Matriculants or First year students who want to continue their studies in the following fields:
– Law
– Commerce
– Engineering
– Humanities (majoring in: Economics/ Philosophy/ Politics)
– Science

Applicants must be studying want to enrol at one of the universities:

– Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU)
– Rhodes University
– TSiBA
– University of Cape Town (UCT)
– University of the Western Cape (UWC)
– Stellenbosch University
– University of Johannesburg (UJ)
– University of Pretoria (UP)
– University of the Free State (UFS)
– University of Witwatersrand (WITS)

Qualifying criteria

All applicants must have a passion about entrepreneurship, as well as:
– Be a citizens of South Africa
– Believe in the future of your country
– Be an ambassador of the Foundation’s intended profile.
– Intention to study for a degree in Commerce, Science (excluding Medicine), Engineering, Law or Humanities (majoring in Politics, Philosophy, or Economics) degree at WITS, UJ, UCT, NMMU, Rhodes, UWC, Stellenbosch or UP

If the student is in Matric:
– Level 5 in Pure Mathematics for Grade 11 results
– Level 6 average for Grade 11 results (excluding Life Orientation)
– Completion of the National Benchmark Test by 30 September 2017
– You cannot be older than 21 years of age in the year of your application

If applicant is in First year University:
– A minimum average of 65% for your 2016 mid-year (June) exam results
– No older than 22 years of age in the year of your application.

If applicant is in Second year University:
– A minimum of 65% average in 2016 year-end exam results and 65% average in 2017 mid-year exam results

– Certified copies of academic/extra-curricular awards/recognition must be provided

– No older than 23 years of age in 2017.
