Calcosa Aviation Training: Since being established in 1998, Calcosa has tripled the size of its training and charter operation at Johannesburg’s Rand Airport as a result of its commitment to providing the highest level of expertise and convenience in pilot and cabin crew training. An ex SACAA Chief Flying Inspector with over 32 years of aviation experience as Pilot, Inspector and Grade 1 Instructor is on hand to impart knowledge to trainee pilots and crew.
Calcosa also runs various aviation safety and operations based lectures. Run throughout the year, these one day seminars cover a range of subjects, examples include: How to fly the PA30, WX Flying, Flight Planning for the recreational Private Pilot and How to calculate FDP correctly.
In addition to our flight training services, Calcosa has two fully stocked Pilot Shops and offers accommodation, meals, laundry and transport to full-time aviation students.
Calcosa Aviation Training | Flight School Training Courses
PRIVATE PILOT LICENSE
Hours: 45 (25 dual, 15 solo, 5 instrument). 5 hours basic instrument training included as per CAA requirements.
Duration: 6-8 weeks.
NIGHT RATING
Hours: 11 dual. This includes 5 hours basic instrument training carried over from PPL, 5 Hrs further Instrument training as per night rating syllabus and 4 hours night including circuits and navigation.
Duration: 10 days. Note: Already included as part of the CPL/ME and ATP courses.
INSTRUMENT RATING
Hours: 40 dual approximately (includes 20 hours simulator training plus 10 hours instrument training already obtained).
Duration: Note: Already included as part of the CPL/ME and ATP courses.>
CPL GROUND SCHOOL
Hours: 270 hours lectures
Duration: 9 weeks. Note: Already included as part of the CPL and ATP courses.
CPL WITH MULTI ENGINE
Hours: 200 (100 dual, 100 solo). This includes 5 hours on an Piper Twin Comanche plus 15 hours multi, 50 hours solo navigation, 10 hours solo night and 40 hours instrument training/flying.
Duration: 1 Year 6 Months (From beginning of PPL till completion of Commercial Pilot Licence)
TYPE RATINGS
At Calcosa we offer the following type ratings : B1900, B200, C208B, PA30, PA31, HS125, BAE146, C206, C210, C172, B737, DC8, DC9, MD82/3, C500, C550
CABIN CREW (Initial & Refresher)
Dangerous Goods Training, SEPT, Slide Jumping, Fire-Fighting, Ditching and Cabin Crew Type Ratings.
Duration: 6 weeks.
