About CSC

Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the United Kingdom has awarded more than 900 scholarships and fellowships to postgraduate and PhD students of Commonwealth citizens every year. The organization is empowered by British Council. The main goal of CSC is to encourage Commonwealth citizens to improve their education and skills for better community and environment. One of the priorities of CS is to ensure the benefits of the bursary program have impacts on the recipients and their home countries.

Available Field Of Study

Commonwealth postgraduate bursary are usually tenable for 1 year only, only applies for post-graduate students and it covers many and various field of studies available in different universities in United Kingdom. Requirements of Bursary

To apply for CSC bursary, all applicants are expected to meet these eligibility criterion and those are:

  • Applicants are permanent South African citizen, refugee, British protected person or Commonwealth citizen
  • Applicants are ready to start academic year in UK in September/October 2016
  • Applicants hold a first degree at least upper second class with honours standars
  • Never work or study in developed country previously
  • Less possible finance condition to study in UK
  • Bursars must return to home countries upon study completion

Bursars selection are made based on academic merit and potential impact for the bursars’ home country, therefore the bursars are highly suggested to be active in campus. The bursaries covers airplane ticket from home countries to United Kingdom, approved tuition and examination fees, living allowance at the current rate, thesis allowance for preparing dissertation, visa reimbursement and warm clothing allowance, travel for study grant, excess baggage limit and no allowance for spouse or relatives. Applying the Bursary

Applications must be submitted before 1 April 2016.
