Finance Minister reiterates commitment to support NSFAS qualifying students

In this year’s budget speech, Minister of Finance, Pravin Gordhan reiterated that government will ensure that no student whose combined family income is below R600 000 per annum, will face fee increases at universities and TVET colleges for 2017. The Minister further emphasized a commitment made by Minister of Higher Education and Training – Dr Blade Nzimande – that all poor students who applied and qualified for NSFAS, and who have been accepted by a university or a TVET college, will be financially supported.
