POSITION SYNOPSIS:

THE PURPOSE OF THE ROLE IS TO MANAGE THE FUNCTION OF ANALYSIS AND IMPROVEMENT FOR THE MINING DEPARTMENT AND SUPPORT THE EXECUTION TEAMS TO MEET THE DEPARTMENTAL OBJECTIVES.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Serious contenders will have a Degree/BTECH/National Diploma Mining Engineering with a minimum of 5 years Mining and Production experience, of which at least 2 year in a managerial capacity.
  • Mine Managers Certificate of Competency will be an added advantage;
  • Experience in Underground Mining as well as Surface Plants will be advantageous;
  • Computer literacy in MS Office and SAP is essential.
  • CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Develop and implement the strategy and action plans for the Mining Department;
  • Plan strategically to improve business performance and deliver input into the long-term strategic plans;
  • Embed the South32 Care Strategy and Well Designed Work;
  • Develop, lead and supervise a team of Analysis & Improvement Specialists that are deployed to efficiently fulfil the A&I sub function within the Production Department;
  • Ensure the development of the entire production team to the required level of maturity on the best practice road-to-reliability.
  • Govern work practices within the production policy and asset management framework;
  • Utilise SAP work management processes to investigate reported events;
  • Analyse plant performance against technical capability;
  • Ensure statutory and legislative compliance of relevant equipment within the operation, and that controls are in place for the identified material risks within the production function.
