Brief Description

The Wits School of Education is seeking to appoint a suitable candidate at Associate Lecturer/Lecturer level to contribute to the School’s Initial Teacher Education and postgraduate programmes. The suitable candidate will be expected to lecture at undergraduate and postgraduate level, supervise postgraduate research, conduct research, and contribute to the advancement of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training sector within the Electrical Technology discipline and the growing area of research in the insrtuctional issues in TVET.  In addition, the successful candidate will be encouraged to collaborate in areas of course development, research, secure research funding, and pursue eLearning initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience:
The successful candidate must meet as many of the following criteria as possible:

ASSOCIATE LECTURER [3 Year Contract]

• A Master’s degree in TVET education, or related field.
• Current registration for a PhD with specialization in TVET or Electrical Engineering Technology.
• Experience in teaching Electrical Technology light (electronics) or heavy current at High School / TVET or Higher Education Institutions.
• Strong hands-on skills in Problem Solving and Program Design in laboratory work.
• Candidate must be able to adhere to OSH Act regulations and procedures, maintain tools and equipment

• Candidatse must have strong commitment to both undergraduate & postgraduate education and research including mentoring.

LECTURER [Permanent]

• PhD in Vocational Education / Technology education or related field with evidence of significant research and knowledge of TVET education technology.
• Evidence of research ability or potential (a publication record would be an advantage).
•  Experience in managing, monitoring, developing and evaluating academic programmes within the Faculty
• Leadership in teaching including active participation in teaching and Conference Presentations
•  Leadership in research including  experience in Industry research ( would be an advantage)
• Strong hands-on skills in Problem Solving and Program Design in laboratory work.
• Candidate must be able to adhere to OSH Act regulations and procedures, maintain tools and equipment

• Candidate must have strong commitment to both undergraduate & postgraduate education and research.
• Demonstrate knowledge of integrating Information & Communication Technology (ICT) tools in their teaching and the ability to develop digital learning materials.

Remuneration: Dependent on qualifications and relevant experience.
